Maui Nō Ka ʻOi Magazine
Haynes Publishing Group · September–October 2019 to May–June 2020, five issues · print and digital
Creative Director: Paul Morris Associate Art Director: Shanoaleigh Marson
Haynes Publishing's Maui title has to carry visitors and residents, dining and real estate, culture and commerce inside the same issue — across print, digital and its own restaurant-awards property.

What I made
Five consecutive issues, September–October 2019 to May–June 2020, art-directed throughout. Three covers, three different architectures. Feature openers that change register: a black page and one moon for "In the Realm Between Ao and Pō"; a full-bleed crater at dawn for "In the House of the Sun"; a shell-lei still life with a drop cap for "The Flowers of Niʻihau". A Dining Guide opener repeating in teal, orange and blue across three issues on one icon set. Plus the ʻAipono Restaurant Awards identity, and the photographers and illustrators hired for each issue.
Outcome
Chris Archer, photographer, Maui: "Paul was confident and professional with his directions and gave examples of the style and composition the magazine was looking to have featured. This gave me the perfect path to execute the images needed."

Taking projects from October. Editorial, campaign and digital art direction.
