Moët & Chandon Advertising Section for Out

LPI Media · 2007–08 · Out — promotion design: a four-page special advertising section for Moët & Chandon

Creative Director: Paul Morris Photographs: Guillermo de Zamacona

Moët & Chandon wanted presence in Out that read as the magazine's own culture coverage rather than a champagne ad — which meant finding a question worth asking and four people worth asking it of.

"Pop Culture Provocateurs Lay It All Out on the Line. What Is Fabulous?" opener with a group portrait.

What I made

A four-page section built on one question. "Pop culture provocateurs lay it all out on the line. What is fabulous?" set in a high-contrast Didone across two lines, the question mark run to full page height. Four subjects — Cazwell, Julie Atlas Muz, Emmett McCarthy, Sylvia Tosun — photographed by Guillermo de Zamacona on one low-lit set of wood panelling, ice buckets and coupes, so a group frame and four singles cut together as a single shoot. Each answer is pulled out as an italic quotation.

"What is fabulous?" spread: four portraits with pull quotes set in italic serif.
