Departures Client Onserts and Advertising Sections
American Express Publishing · 2009–10 · Departures — promotion design: client onserts and in-book special advertising sections
Creative Director: Paul Morris
Departures went to cardholders who kept it, so an advertiser's section could not look like an ad dropped into the book — it had to be made to the magazine's own standard or it devalued the page it sat on.

What I made
A 52-page Brooks Brothers onsert for September 2009, conceived and designed: a typographic cover setting "Makers and Merchants / Made in America" at page scale in grey on charcoal, spreads of suits on dress forms, a drop initial run to half-page height against a black-and-white portrait, a tweed-and-label detail, and a contents page built from tinted numerals. Two further Brooks Brothers units, September and October 2010. A three-page "Making Kiton" anatomy of a shirt, a tie and a shoe, annotated in call-outs. And a "Caribbean Getaways" section for Christophe Harbour and Bahía Beach.
